Ecorkwaste participates in a H2020 projects seminar
The progress and preliminary results of Ecorkwaste project have been present at the conference "EU seminar: Smart and sustainable cities, lessons learned and opportunities within H2020", which was held in Padova (Italy).
Ecorkwaste was represented by researcher Joana Castellar, who also represented UNESCO Chair of Sustainability and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPQ) of Brazil.
The participatory development of cities and the implementation of solutions based on natural processes were the highlights during the entire event. In this framework, the contribution of Ecorkwaste as an alternative solution to improve the elimination of pollutants in agroindustrial and urban wastewater was highlighted thanks to the use of the cork by-product used as a granular medium in treatment wetlands and green walls.
During the seminar, which took place at the end of September, European Commission presented the main objectives related to sustainable innovation in cities. The representatives of the H2020 projects in the field of climate and resilient cities presented their objectives and lessons learned until the moment. This type of event offers a unique opportunity to promote the projects developed by the European Union, to share the acquired knowledge and to promote future collaborations between all the agents involved.
