On 9th February 2016 Spanish newspaper El Mundo published in the issue number 132 of the supplement "Innovadores", an article related to two projects focused on water resources recycling. On the one side, the regeneration and reuse of water runoff and drainage of agricultural land through combined water treatment systems (REAGRITECH) and, on the other side, the integrated and sustainable management of cork waste generated in the cork industry (ECORKWASTE).

Researchers of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) employ cork waste generated by wine industry as fuel for electricity generation as well as for wastewater treatment, has informed this Thursday the Manresa Technology Centre Eurecat-CTM in a release.
